Teacher-Directed Walking Tour
Teacher Information
Information for Special Education Teachers
If you have a class of primary, junior or intermediate students that have behavioural, communicational, intellectual, physical, or multiple execeptionalities, you may bring your students on a teacher-directed walking tour of our outdoor facilities.
We are currently developing resources to assist you with your trip. You must be aware, however, that there will be NO police or fire department instructors to assist you. Also, your tour will be in our outside village, not our indoor facility.
Many features of this trip include:

- Depending on the weather and the students’ exceptionalities, it may take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour for you to see all of the sites
- A road map will be provided for you to use on your walking tour to explain the purpose of each of the businesses and organizations that have built the structures
- The railroad crossing arm will be turned on, and an instruction sheet on how to work it will be provided for the teacher or other adult to allow them to demonstrate its purpose and what to do when you see it down
- The police building will be open for you to take pictures of your students in jail
- We have other photo opportunities available including: Seymour Bear, wooden train, playground, etc.
The Children’s Safety Village of Brant is a charity that relies on donations from the community.
We would like to thank the Police Services, Fire Services and school boards who generously work in partnership with us to facilitate our safety village.
Make sure you check for available dates on our online calendar before booking your visit.
Note: The Elementary Self-Guided Walking Tour is offered during September, October, April, May and June.
